Can we all just have a perfect memory? I would love to remember everything, but I barely can remember what I learned last week. The tutorial activity about memory actually made me laugh! I'm such a forgetful person. I literally forget things right after they're said to me. I didn't even notice how bad it was until I started working at my job.
We ask so many questions. Do you want mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce and tomatoes? Do you want that grilled? And if they take a little longer to answer a question, I'll completely forget the first answer to the first question. Some people get really aggravated when you ask them over, but it's hard to remember their order when you make many sandwiches before them.
So I found a solution to my problem about 6 months ago. I ask each questions in a specific order, and I just memorize yes or no for each one. This made everything more sufficient, and it makes the line of people go down ten times faster than asking all the question over and over again. Sometimes I still forget, but no one's perfect :)
I was the same way with the tutorial. My results said "your scores are below average for a college student" oh great. I honestly think there is something wrong with me sometimes. I really need to start using memory techniques like you did at your job. It would make things much easier. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that has a terrible memory.
ReplyDeleteIt's smart to have a system that helps you remember the orders correctly at your job! When I was 15 years old I got my first job at Chick-fil-A and I had a system for how I did things as well and it really made things go smoothly for me. At 28 years old I wonder how well I would do now if I had to work a job like that again. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have a fairly descent memory for the most part but I still had some really bad results on parts of the tutorial. I would be able to remember maybe three of the nine letters. I also know what you mean about having to ask the customers a lot of questions at work. I have found that I have developed a certain way and order that I ask everything in and when the company adds a question or decides they want you to ask them in a different order I mess up and fumble over my words.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to have a specific way you do things. It seems like if I get out of some of my simple routines, it totally confuses me. For the most part, I thankfully have a pretty good memory.
ReplyDeleteI have to have a system at my job on how to do things so that I can remember! and LISTS, without my list I'd be so lost, I'd probably be fired. My systems rarely make sense to anyone, but I feel like I am pretty efficient with them!
